2010 marketing budgets shift
Marketing budgets will shift from traditional to interactive media for 2010 says Forrester Research. Cut from the list are direct mail, newspapers, print magazines, and television.
Online display advertising will rise, as will search marketing, social marketing, and mobile marketing.
Overall, marketers are aiming to focus more on ‘green marketing’, turn to smarter programs to boost sales, shift money to email from direct mail, and improve email effectiveness by linking to other channels like search or user-generated content, ratings and reviews.
Social networking will have to work hard to sell its untested status and overcome hurdles in creating impact with consumers. While the numbers are huge, a social network “presence” doesn’t equate to
relationship because they aren’t there to connect to brands but to each other.
